3. How to Read a DJ Part Number
The DJ part number has two parts: the series prefix and the dash size.
- DJ is the series prefix. It identifies the JIC adapter of this page: an equal female 74 degree seat tee with three ports, as listed in this table.

- Over-tightening to stop a weep. The symptom is a stretched thread or a distorted seat, because the metal faces are already in contact and further torque only deforms the joint.
- Carrying the branch load on the tee. The symptom is a weep that appears only when the branch line is pressurised or vibrating.
- Mixing dash sizes across the tee. The symptom is a thread that starts easily but reaches seat contact at a different depth than the other two ports.
