All ferrules share one geometry: a cylindrical, hollow body with serrations or locating features on the inner bore. Length (L) is the primary matching dimension, held to ±0.5 mm. Outer diameter tolerance is ±0.1 mm, so die selection stays predictable across batches.

Key Specifications: Size, Material, and Finish

Dash size and bore. Dash size equals the hose I.D. in 1/16-inch increments: 03 = 5 mm, 04 = 6 mm, 06 = 10 mm, 08 = 12 mm, 10 = 16 mm, 12 = 20 mm, 16 = 25 mm, 20 = 32 mm, 24 = 40 mm, 32 = 50 mm. Always match the dash size to the hose I.D., then confirm the cover O.D. against the applicable standard.

Material.

• Carbon steel, cold formed: standard for the 1SN, 2SN, R7, 4SP/4SH, and R12 series
• Stainless steel: recommended for chemical, pharmaceutical, and food service
• Every grade is balanced in hardness (typically HRC 20-25) to resist cracking during crimping

Surface finish.

• Yellow zinc plating with chromate passivation: standard finish, ≥120 h salt spray per ISO 9227
• Zinc-nickel plating: offshore and high-corrosion duty

Crimping Tools and Installation

Recommended equipment. Every series works with standard hydraulic crimping machines and common die sets. We provide reference crimp data and die selection for your machine model with every order, so no special tooling is required.

Installation steps:

1. Cut the hose square with a sharp hose cutter.
2. Prepare the hose end per the hose maker’s instructions (skive where required, e.g. 4SH and R12).
3. Insert the matching stem fully into the hose bore.
4. Slide the ferrule over the hose end and seat it against the stem shoulder.
5. Crimp to the target crimp diameter from your hose manufacturer’s crimp chart.
6. Verify the crimp O.D. with a caliper and record the value.

Two rules that prevent failures: always use the target crimp diameter from the hose maker’s chart, and never re-crimp a used ferrule. Hydraulic ferrules are single-use components. Ferrules are supplied as matched sets with our hydraulic hose fittings, the recommended way to achieve consistent, certified assemblies.

Selection note. The 00210 series is built for general industrial service and is not recommended for engineering machinery with extreme pressure spikes. For excavator, loader, and mining duty, use the 00200 or 03310 series instead. We state this honestly so you select the right part the first time.

How to Select the Right Hydraulic Hose Ferrule

Selecting a ferrule takes three checks:

1. Hose construction. Identify the hose standard — 1SN, 2SN, R7, 4SP/4SH, R12, or PTFE — and choose the matching series. Never mix series across constructions.
2. Dash size. Match the dash size to the hose I.D. (03 = 5 mm and so on), then confirm the cover O.D. against the standard.
3. Crimp data. Cross-check the target crimp diameter on your hose maker’s crimp chart before production.
