What Are Hydraulic Fittings?
Hydraulic fittings are the mechanical components that join hoses, tubes, pumps, valves, and cylinders into a sealed fluid circuit. Each fitting has two ends: a connection end that mates with the machine port or tube, and a hose end that is crimped onto the hose. Choose the right pair, and the assembly holds pressure without leakage; choose wrong, and the line fails.
Five questions define a fitting. We answer all of them on this page:
- What connection type fits my port — JIC, ORFS, NPT, BSP, flange, or metric?
- What thread size and dash size do I need?
- Which hose family is on the other end?
- What material suits my fluid and environment?
- How is it installed and crimped?
Core value: correct connection identification and correct crimping are the two steps that keep a hydraulic line leak-free and pull-off-resistant.
Three customer paths:
- For OEM manufacturers — standardize connection types across your machine range and lock in repeatable assembly quality.
- For end users and maintenance teams — identify the failed connection, then order the correct replacement the first time.
- For distributors — consolidate the full connection range in one catalog, with mixed-size sample kits and private labeling.
Connection Families
Types of hydraulic fittings divide by connection end. Each family below has its own dedicated page with thread charts and dimensions.
| Connection Family | Estándar | Sealing Method | Typical Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| JIC 37° flare | SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 | Metal-to-metal 37° flare | Mobile and industrial hydraulics |
| ORFS | SAE J1453 | O-ring on flat face | Zero-leak, high-vibration service |
| NPT / NPTF | ASME B1.20.1 | Tapered thread interference | North American pipe ports |
| BSPP / BSPT | ISO 228-1 / ISO 7-1 | Washer, O-ring, or 55° taper | European and Asian machinery |
| SAE flange | SAE J518 (Code 61/62) | O-ring in flange head | Large-bore, high-flow systems |
| 24° cone metric | ISO 8434-1 / DIN 2353 | 24° cone seat | European metric machinery |
Every order starts with the connection end. Measure the port thread and seat angle, or send us a photo, and we identify the family for you free of charge.
Key Specifications
Hose-Side: Matching Ferrule Series
The hose end of each fitting is matched to a hose family and its ferrule series. The table below lists the full crimp-side range, dash 03 to 32 (DN 4 to 50).
| Series | Hose Family | Estándar | Dash | Crimp Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 00110-A / 00110 | 1SN | SAE 100 R1AT / EN 853 | 03–32 | No-skive |
| 03310 / 00200 | 2SN | SAE 100 R2AT / EN 853 | 03–32 | No-skive |
| 00210 | 2SN | DIN 20022 | 03–32 | No-skive |
| 00400 | 4SP / 4SH | EN 856 | 04–32 | One-piece |
| 00400 / 01400 | R12 | SAE 100 R12 | 06–24 | One-piece |
| 00018 | R7 thermoplastic | SAE 100 R7 | 03–12 | No-skive |
| 00TF0 / 00710 | PTFE (Teflon) | Per hose maker | 03–32 | One-piece |
Assembly working pressure follows the hose family: 1SN to 250 bar, 2SN to 400 bar, 4SP to 450 bar in the smallest sizes, R12 at 4,000 psi (276 bar) constant, and PTFE to about 207 bar (3,000 psi) in small bores. Confirm the final value against your hose data sheet.
Material and Surface Finish
Material choice is the second decision when buying hydraulic fittings for corrosive or hygienic service.
| Option | Specification | Solicitud |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon steel, cold formed | Precision-formed threads, seats, and serrations | Standard for general hydraulics |
| Yellow zinc plating | Chromate passivation, ≥120 h salt spray per ISO 9227 | Standard finish |
| Zinc-nickel plating | Higher corrosion resistance | Offshore and marine duty |
| Stainless steel | Clean, unplated surface | Chemical, food, and hygienic lines |
Key Features

Crimping and Installation
Every fitting in this range is crimped with standard hydraulic crimping machines and common die sets. We provide reference crimp data and die selection for your machine model with every order.
Installation steps:
- Cut the hose square with a sharp hose cutter.
- Prepare the hose end per the hose maker’s instructions (skive where required, e.g. 4SH and R12).
- Insert the stem fully into the hose bore.
- Slide the ferrule over the hose end and seat it against the stem shoulder.
- Crimp with a hydraulic hose crimping machine to the target crimp diameter from the hose maker’s chart.
- Verify the crimp O.D. with a caliper and record the value.
Two rules prevent failures: always use the target crimp diameter from the hose maker’s chart, and never re-crimp a used part. Fittings and ferrules are single-use components.
Nomenclature: How Part Numbers Work
Hydraulic fittings in this catalog follow two naming logics. Learn both and you can order without confusion.
Logic 1 — series and dash (ferrules and one-piece fittings). The part number is SERIES - DASH. Example: 00400-12 is the one-piece family for 4SP/4SH/R12 hoses at dash 12 (DN 20).
Logic 2 — connection end and hose end (crimp fittings). The number states both ends. Example: a -06 JIC 37° flare connection on a -06 (3/8 in) hose, in a straight or 90° configuration, is described by both dash codes.
We assign the exact part number for your configuration on request. Send us the connection type, thread or dash size, hose family, and configuration, and our engineers confirm the code before you order.
Matching by Hose Family
Use this table to select the correct ferrule series, then pair it with the connection end you need:
| Your Hose | Ferrule Series | Notas |
|---|---|---|
| 1SN (R1AT / EN 853) | 00110-A (03-16), 00110 (20-32) | No-skive, general industrial |
| 2SN (R2AT / EN 853) | 03310 (03-16), 00200 (20-32) | No-skive, high pressure |
| 2SN (DIN 20022) | 00210 | No-skive, DIN service |
| 4SP / 4SH (EN 856) | 00400 | One-piece, ultra-high pressure |
| R12 (SAE 100 R12) | 00400 (06-16), 01400 (20-24) | One-piece, 4,000 psi |
| R7 thermoplastic | 00018 | No-skive, low pressure |
| PTFE | 00TF0 (03-16), 00710 (06-32) | One-piece, chemical service |
We do not list competitor part numbers on this page. Send us your hose brand and construction, and our engineers verify the exact match before you order.

Hydraulic Fittings FAQ
Can NPT and BSP threads be mixed? No. NPT is a 60° tapered pipe thread; BSP is a 55° British pipe thread. They are not interchangeable, and mixing them causes leaks or thread damage.
How do I confirm a fitting matches my hose? Three checks: confirm the connection thread and seat, match the hose dash to the hose I.D., and confirm the hose construction against the ferrule series table. Send us both measurements and we verify the full part number.
Brass or stainless steel — which do I need? Brass suits low-pressure air, water, and general service. Stainless steel suits corrosive chemicals, food, pharmaceuticals, and marine environments. Our range is supplied in zinc-plated carbon steel or stainless steel.
What types of hydraulic fittings are available? Six connection families: JIC 37° flare, ORFS, NPT/NPTF, BSPP/BSPT, SAE flange, and 24° cone metric, each matched with hose-side ferrule series for braided, spiral, thermoplastic, and PTFE hoses.
What is the difference between JIC and ORFS? Both use straight threads, but JIC seals at a 37° metal-to-metal flare while ORFS seals with an O-ring on a flat face. ORFS is preferred for zero-leak, high-pressure, and high-vibration service.
Can fittings be reused after a hose fails? No. Crimp fittings and ferrules are single-use components. Always install new parts for every new assembly.
Do you supply complete hose assemblies? Yes. We supply matched fitting-and-ferrule sets and complete assemblies, with verified part numbers, crimp data, and batch traceability on request.
