BSP Female Multiseal 90° Elbow: 22191 Series

Why This BSP Female Multiseal Elbow Passes the Compliance Gate
A BSP female multiseal 90° elbow terminates a braided hydraulic hose with a right-angle turn and connects it to a male BSPP stud through a multiseal sealing seat. The 22191 series from HENGHUA is a one-piece crimp elbow with G-series parallel threads from G1/8″ to G2″, covering 22 sizes from -03 to -32. Every unit is cold-forged from carbon steel, heat-treated, plated, and 100% pressure tested before shipment. For OEM buyers this elbow is a compliance gate; for maintenance teams it is the multiseal termination for right-angle routing on equipment that uses elastomeric-seal BSPP studs.
- BSPP multiseal female end: the parallel G thread (ISO 228-1) terminates in a spherical (radiused) sealing seat per the drawing, designed for multiseal-type elastomeric sealing with the mating male stud. The seal element is carried by the stud side or supplied with the fitting, depending on your order configuration.
- 90° crimp elbow for braided hose: the one-piece body turns the hose axis by 90°, and the stem is engineered for braided constructions; for spiral hose, order the 22192 series.
- Full size coverage: from the smallest G1/8″ end up to G2″, the series covers the practical range of this sealing family on mobile and industrial equipment.
- OEM gate check: full dimensional and material conformance with thread form per ISO 228-1, and material test reports (MTR) available for every batch.
Core Advantages
- Elastomeric multiseal sealing: the spherical seat works with a multiseal-type ring to absorb minor misalignment, giving a forgiving joint in field assembly.
- 22 sizes across G1/8″ to G2″: one series covers the full range from small control circuits to large return lines.
- -40°C to +120°C operating range: suited to return, pressure, and cooler circuits across mobile and industrial equipment.
- 96 to 1000 h salt spray options: trivalent zinc (96 h), zinc-nickel (720 h), or Dacromet (1000 h), matched to your environment.

What Is a BSP Female Multiseal 90° Elbow?
This elbow terminates a braided hose with a BSPP multiseal connection, the elastomeric-seal family of parallel British threads used on equipment where a positive, forgiving seal is preferred over metal cone contact. On the port end, the fitting carries a BSPP parallel thread (G series, thread form per ISO 228-1) and a spherical sealing seat per the drawing. The G thread is parallel and does not seal by itself; it only draws the joint together. The sealing element is a multiseal-type elastomeric ring, normally carried by the mating male stud, which compresses against the spherical seat of this female end when the joint is tightened.
The spherical seat is the design point of this family: a radiused face gives the seal ring a stable line of contact and tolerates small angular misalignment between the fitting and the port, which helps in tight installations where the stud cannot be perfectly aligned. This is what separates the multiseal family from the other two BSPP female systems: a 60° cone seat seals metal-to-metal against a male cone, and a flat seat seals by compressing a bonded washer or O-ring against a flat face. All three use the same G thread form but different sealing geometry, so the female end and the male stud must belong to the same family.
On the hose end, the elbow is a crimp termination for braided hose. The 90° angle turns the hose run at a right angle to the port axis, which is the standard geometry when the port faces a direction the hose cannot approach in a straight line. Typical positions are cylinder ports, valve blocks, pump outlets, and filter heads. This series is the 90° counterpart of the 22141 series 45° elbow: the same sealing family and hose range, with a different body angle for a different routing need. The series covers 22 sizes from -03 to -32; the -T and -W suffixes on some part numbers mark the body variants shown on the drawing and must be kept in the order code.
Dimensional Data and Threads
| Symbol | Descripción |
|---|---|
| E | BSPP female thread (G series, ISO 228-1), G1/8″ to G2″ |
| A | Horizontal length from the bend centre to the hose stem end |
| C | Depth dimension of the port sealing section per drawing |
| H | Vertical height from the bend centre to the top of the nut end |
| S2 | Hex across flats of the nut at the port end |
| Dash | Hose inside diameter in 1/16″ increments (-03 to -32) |
| DN | Hose inside diameter in millimetres (5 to 50) |
Full dimension drawings with A, C, H, and S2 callouts are supplied as PDF and CAD (STEP/DWG) files. Because this is a crimp fitting, the two process-critical parameters are the hose insert depth and the crimp outside diameter; both are hose-series specific and are listed in the crimp data sheet that accompanies every order.

Material and Heat Treatment
| Artículo | Standard Option | Premium Option |
|---|---|---|
| Material | High-strength cold-forged carbon steel (20#/35#/45#) | Stainless steel 304 or 316L |
| Heat treatment | Carburizing and quenching, core hardness HRC 20-28 | Solution treatment, stable corrosion resistance |
| Surface | Trivalent zinc plating (96 h salt spray) | Zinc-nickel (720 h), Dacromet (1000 h), or passivated |
| Thread class | G-series gauge-checked | Same, with 100% thread gauge inspection |
Cold forging preserves the grain flow of the steel, which raises fatigue resistance under pressure pulsation. Each heat-treatment batch is hardness-tested and recorded, so the hardness number on the MTR matches the parts you receive.
Presión de trabajo
| Artículo | Rating |
|---|---|
| BSPP multiseal end | Medium-to-high pressure class, size-dependent; this sealing geometry is commonly rated up to about 40 MPa (400 bar) in the small and medium sizes |
| Crimped assembly | Governed by the hose; braided hose at these sizes typically carries about 8-40 MPa depending on construction and size |
| Factory test | Every elbow is 100% pressure tested before shipment |
The exact rating for your part number and hose combination is confirmed on the datasheet and by our engineers before shipment. The assembled joint rating also depends on the seal ring selected for the mating stud; use a ring rated for your circuit pressure and fluid.
Pressure-Temperature Operating Envelope
| Temperatura | Pressure Retention |
|---|---|
| -40°C | 100% of rated pressure |
| -20°C | 100% |
| 0°C | 100% |
| +20°C | 100% |
| +40°C | 100% |
| +60°C | 100% |
| +80°C | 100% |
| +100°C | 100% |
| +120°C | 100% (system derating governed by hose and elastomer seals, not by the fitting) |
The steel body holds full rated pressure across the whole temperature window. In a crimped assembly the working pressure is governed by the weakest component, normally the hose or the seal ring; use the hose derating curve for the system.
Selection and Ordering
The 22191 series covers the 90° elbow segment of BSP hydraulic hose fittings for braided hose, from -03 to -32, so most orders can be placed directly from the tables below.
How to Read the Part Number Matrix
Find your BSPP thread in the E column, then the hose dash size you use. The intersecting row gives the order code, for example a G3/8″ thread with a -06 hose gives 22191-06-06. For the sizes marked with -T or -W, keep the suffix in the order code. If your combination is not listed, send us both sizes; a custom multiseal elbow is machined on request.
BSPP Thread Size Chart
Use this chart to identify the thread on your port and to confirm the matching hose dash sizes. BSPP G threads are parallel; they are identified by measuring the thread outside diameter and counting the threads per inch.
| BSPP Thread (G) | TPI | Thread Dash | Typical Hose Dash |
|---|---|---|---|
| G1/8″ | 28 | -02 | -03, -04 |
| G1/4″ | 19 | -04 | -03, -04, -05 |
| G3/8″ | 19 | -06 | -05, -06, -08 |
| G1/2″ | 14 | -08 | -06, -08, -10 |
| G5/8″ | 14 | -10 | -10, -12 |
| G3/4″ | 14 | -12 | -08, -10, -12 |
| G1″ | 11 | -16 | -12, -14, -16 |
| G1.1/4″ | 11 | -20 | -16, -20 |
| G1.1/2″ | 11 | -24 | -24 |
| G2″ | 11 | -32 | -32 |
Cross Reference Service
Most maintenance teams buy against a legacy part number printed on the old drawing. Send us the OEM or distributor part number you currently use, with a photo of the fitting if possible. Our engineers identify the thread, seat type, hose size, and bend angle, then confirm the exact 22191 equivalent before you place the order. The service covers multiseal fittings, BSP hydraulic hose fittings, and BSP elbows in your inventory, and interchange confirmation is free. The cross reference sheet is returned in PDF for your records.

Assembly and Use Guide
Four-Step Crimping Procedure
- Cut the hose square: use a hose cutter, never a hacksaw or an angle grinder. A square, clean end is the precondition for a uniform ferrule grip.
- Mark the insert depth: read the insert depth for your hose series from the crimp data sheet and mark the line on the hose cover.
- Lubricate and insert: apply a thin film of assembly lubricant to the stem and the hose bore, then push the fitting into the hose until the mark meets the ferrule.
- Crimp and verify: select the die per the crimp table, crimp in one continuous stroke, then measure the crimp outside diameter with a caliper and compare with the tolerance.
Connecting the Multiseal End
Check the spherical sealing seat for nicks or scratches before assembly; a damaged seat will leak even with a new seal ring. Fit the correct multiseal-type ring onto the mating male stud, thread the stud into the BSPP female end by hand until the ring touches the seat, then tighten to the torque listed for the thread size. Orient the elbow so the hose exits in the direction the routing requires before final torque. The spherical seat tolerates small angular misalignment, but do not use that tolerance to force an oversized or damaged stud. Replace the seal ring at every disassembly; elastomeric seals are single-use in a rated joint.
Installation Warnings
- ❌ Never mix fittings and ferrules from different suppliers, even when the thread and hose sizes look identical. Stem geometry, ferrule hardness, and crimp parameters differ, and a mixed joint will leak or blow off under pressure.
- ❌ Never confuse a multiseal seat with a 60° cone seat, a flat seat, or a BSPT taper thread. Each sealing family needs its matching male stud and seal element, and the systems are not interchangeable.
- ❌ Never reuse a seal ring. The elastomeric ring is part of the rated joint and must be replaced at every assembly.
- ❌ Never assemble on a scratched or nicked spherical seat. The seat is the sealing surface; repair or replace the fitting if it is damaged.
- ❌ Never crimp without the matching crimp data sheet, and never recrimp a fitting after a failed attempt.
- ❌ Do not use the elbow to force a hose into a bend tighter than its minimum bend radius; the elbow solves the port turn, but the hose still needs its rated bend radius downstream.
- ✔ After assembly, pressure-test the circuit at 1.5x working pressure and inspect all joints for weepage.
OEM Customization and Quality Traceability
Customization Options
- Size and thread customization: non-standard G thread and hose combinations and special bend angles machined to your drawing.
- Surface treatment customization: trivalent zinc (96 h), zinc-nickel (720 h), or Dacromet (1000 h) salt spray grades, selected by your environment and corrosion specification.
- Laser marking: your logo, part number, and batch code laser-marked on the hex for full field traceability.
- Material options: 304/316L stainless for chemical, marine, and food-contact circuits, with passivation certificates.
Quality and Traceability System
Every batch follows a documented flow: incoming steel with mill certificate → cold forging → CNC machining → heat treatment → plating → 100% thread gauge and dimension inspection → pressure test → laser marking → packing. The batch number on the carton links back to the raw material lot, the heat-treatment record, and the inspection report. Material test reports (MTR) are provided with every order on request, and third-party inspection reports (BV/SGS) can be arranged before shipment.
FAQ
Q: What is a BSP female multiseal 90° elbow? A: It is a one-piece crimp elbow for braided hose with a BSPP female port end (G series, parallel thread) and a spherical multiseal sealing seat, with a 90° body angle for right-angle routing.
Q: How does the multiseal seat seal? A: The G thread is parallel and does not seal by itself. A multiseal-type elastomeric ring carried by the mating male stud compresses against the spherical seat of this female end when the joint is tightened. Replace the ring at every assembly.
Q: What is the difference between this 90° elbow and the 22141 45° elbow? A: Both use the same BSPP multiseal seat and hose range. The difference is the body angle: 90° turns the hose at a right angle to the port, and 45° turns it by half of a right angle. Choose the angle that matches the routing geometry without forcing the hose bend radius.
Q: What hose does the 22191 series fit? A: The series is designed for braided hose in sizes -03 to -32 (DN 5 to 50). For spiral hose, order the 22192 series. Confirm your exact hose construction with our engineers, and the matching crimp data sheet will be supplied with the order.
Q: Do I need to supply the seal ring? A: The multiseal ring normally travels with the male stud you are connecting to, so check your mating part. If you need a matched seal ring set for your order, tell our engineers and we will include the correct rings with the shipment.
Q: Can you provide crimp data for my hose? A: Yes. Every order includes the crimp data sheet for your hose construction, with insert depth, crimp outside diameter, and die selection. Send us your hose series and brand, and our engineers will confirm the crimp parameters before shipment.
