SAE O-Ring Male Hydraulic Hose Fitting: 16011/16012 Series (ISO 11926 / SAE J1926)

Why This SAE O-Ring Male Hydraulic Hose Fitting Passes the Compliance Gate
Every SAE O-ring male hydraulic hose fitting in the 16011/16012 family is made to the straight-thread O-ring boss geometry of ISO 11926 and SAE J1926, so it seats squarely on the boss face of standard port blocks, manifolds, pumps and valves. The seal is a captive O-ring pressed between the face of the boss and the fitting, not the threads, which gives repeatable leak-free joints that survive vibration and thermal cycling. For OEMs, distributors and maintenance teams this means fewer specification disputes, simpler inventory control and a drop-in answer for the most common metric-of-inch port sizes in mobile and industrial hydraulics.
Core Advantages
- O-ring face seal per SAE J1926/ISO 11926 – the sealing element is a groove-mounted O-ring that seals on the flat boss face, independent of thread loading.
- Two hose-tail versions from one head code – order 16011 for braided hose and 16012-XX-XX for spiral hose without changing the thread end.
- Wide dash coverage – thread sizes from 7/16″-20 to 1-5/16″-12 with O-rings O904 through O916, covering -04 to -16 hose.
- Full process traceability – 100% pressure test, thread inspection and batch records on every order.
Technical Specifications
What Is a SAE O-Ring Male Hydraulic Hose Fitting?
A SAE O-ring male hydraulic hose fitting combines a male straight thread (UNF form) with a recessed O-ring groove at the base of the thread. When tightened into a mating boss, the O-ring compresses against the machined face of the boss and becomes the hydraulic seal, while the straight threads only provide mechanical retention. This design is the SAE J1926 / ISO 11926 O-ring boss (ORB) system and must not be confused with JIC 37-degree (SAE J514) or 45-degree flare (SAE J513) cone seals, whose tapered faces are not interchangeable with ORB ports.
To select the right unit, match the thread end to the port, match the O-ring to the thread dash as shown in the table below, then match the hose tail dash to the hose inner diameter you intend to crimp.
Dimensional Data
| Symbol | Description |
|---|---|
| E | Male thread outer diameter (thread size), as dimensioned on the drawing |
| A | Overall body length from the front face of the male end to the start of the hose tail |
| C | Length of the threaded portion including the O-ring groove up to the hex shoulder |
| S1 | Hex size of the body (width across flats) for tightening |
Full Dimension Table (Part Number Matrix)
All dimensions are in millimetres. Each part number is built as 16011 - thread dash - hose dash; for example 16011-12-10 means a 1-1/16″-12 thread end (thread dash 12) with a -10 hose tail. Threads are shown as in the original chart and are UNF straight threads (for example 7/16″X20 = 7/16″-20 UNF).

Working Pressure and Operating Envelope
Working pressure is determined jointly by the SAE J1926 port standard and the hose grade you select; HENGHUA does not publish a standalone fitting rating because the crimped assembly is only as strong as its weakest member. Every assembly leaves the factory after a 100% pressure test, and the torque and crimp-diameter data sheet for your hose construction is supplied with the order. Operating temperature is typically -40°C to +120°C, with system de-rating governed by the hose and seal materials in your circuit.
Selection and Ordering
How to Read the Part Number Matrix
Read the part number from left to right: 16011 fixes the ORB head geometry, the first two digits after the dash give the thread dash (04 through 16), and the last two digits give the hose dash (04 through 16). The O-ring code follows the same dash logic – O904 pairs with thread dash 04, O905 with 05, O906 with 06, O908 with 08, O910 with 10, O912 with 12 and O916 with 16 – so you can verify a code is correct before ordering. Because the same head code covers several hose dashes, always state both the port thread and the hose size on your enquiry.
For the port side of the assembly this matrix is the SAE O-ring male hydraulic hose fitting reference, because every thread dash, its O-ring and its hex size are listed for verification before ordering. A SAE O-ring male hydraulic hose fitting bought by code from this table arrives with the O-ring already matched to the thread, which removes a common cause of field leaks. The SAE ORB hose fitting head is shared with the 16012 spiral version, so the port side of your assembly stays identical when you change hose construction.
Thread Size and Dash Chart
| Thread (as drawn) | UNF equivalent | Thread dash | O-ring | Hose dash sizes in this series |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 7/16″X20 | 7/16″-20 UNF | 04 | O904 | 04 |
| 1/2″X20 | 1/2″-20 UNF | 05 | O905 | 04 |
| 9/16″X18 | 9/16″-18 UNF | 06 | O906 | 05, 06 |
| 3/4″X16 | 3/4″-16 UNF | 08 | O908 | 06, 08 |
| 7/8″X14 | 7/8″-14 UNF | 10 | O910 | 08, 10 |
| 1.1/16″X12 | 1-1/16″-12 UNF | 12 | O912 | 10, 12 |
| 1.5/16″X12 | 1-5/16″-12 UNF | 16 | O916 | 16 |
Cross Reference Service
Send us your old part number or a worn sample and our engineers will translate it into the correct 16011 or 16012 code, checking thread form, O-ring dash and hose tail against the drawing before you order. This service is free for OEMs and distributors who order in volume, and it removes the guesswork when you are consolidating legacy inventories onto one crimp system. We never attach another manufacturer’s brand to our parts.
Packaging and Logistics
Standard packing is 10 pieces per box with a batch label on every carton; export cartons are marked with the part number, quantity and “Made in China – HENGHUA”. The material test report travels with each shipment, and mixed part numbers can share one container to keep freight economical. For urgent production stops we support split deliveries by air against a confirmed schedule.
Assembly and Use Guide
Four-Step Crimping Procedure
- Cut the hose square – use a sharp saw and a hose cutter, then blow out any debris from the bore.
- Mark the insertion depth – transfer the tail length from the fitting drawing onto the hose cover as a witness mark.
- Lubricate and insert – apply a thin film of assembly lubricant to the tail and push the hose in with a slight twist until it reaches the mark.
- Crimp and verify – crimp with the die set matched to the hose construction, then check the crimped outside diameter with a caliper against the data sheet supplied with the order.
Connecting the O-Ring Boss End
The seal comes from the O-ring against the flat boss face, so keep the straight threads and the port clean before assembly. Lightly coat the O-ring with clean hydraulic oil, run the fitting in by hand until the O-ring touches the boss, then tighten with a wrench on the S1 hex to the SAE J1926 torque values supplied in the accompanying data sheet. Never wind Teflon tape or thread sealant onto the straight threads of a SAE ORB hose fitting – the tape is not the seal, it can stop the O-ring seating, and shredded debris will contaminate the whole circuit.
Installation Warnings
- ✔ Verify the port is a SAE J1926/ISO 11926 boss with a flat, undamaged face before assembly.
- ✔ Lubricate the O-ring with hydraulic oil only, never grease that is incompatible with the seal.
- ✔ Use a torque wrench; the correct value is given on the order-specific data sheet.
- ❌ Do not use Teflon tape, anaerobic sealant or pipe dope on the straight threads.
- ❌ Do not mix this ORB end with JIC 37-degree (SAE J514) or 45-degree flare (SAE J513) ports – the sealing systems are different and cannot seal against each other.
- ❌ Do not use a 16011 braided-hose code on a spiral hose assembly; select 16012-XX-XX instead.
OEM Customization and Quality Traceability
Customization Options
We offer OEM and private-label programs including laser marking of your part number and logo, custom plating and colour, special thread tolerances and modified tail lengths for unusual hose covers. Send a drawing or a sample and our team will quote tooling and lead time within 24 hours.
Quality and Traceability System
Every heat and batch is tracked from cold heading through machining, heat treatment, plating and final test, so a batch number traces back to the material certificate. Pressure testing is 100% rather than sample-based, and the MTR is included with the order; BV or SGS witness inspection can be arranged on request.
FAQ
1. What is the difference between 16011 and 16012 part numbers? The thread end and O-ring are identical; only the hose tail changes. 16011 codes are machined for braided hose, while 16012-XX-XX is the same head for spiral hose assemblies.
2. Do ORB straight threads need Teflon tape? No. The O-ring is the seal and the straight threads only hold the fitting. Tape or sealant can prevent the O-ring from seating and its debris will contaminate the system. For a SAE O-ring male hydraulic hose fitting of any size in this series, clean threads and a lightly lubricated ring are all the sealing preparation you need.
3. What standard is this fitting made to? The O-ring boss head follows SAE J1926 and ISO 11926, using UNF straight threads and an O-ring face seal with an O904 to O916 series ring matched to the thread dash. Both 16011 and 16012 are SAE ORB hose fittings with the same head geometry, so the port side never changes when you switch from braided to spiral hose.
4. Can I connect this fitting to a JIC or flare port? No. JIC 37-degree (SAE J514), 45-degree flare (SAE J513) and ORB (SAE J1926/ISO 11926) are different sealing systems and their mating parts are not interchangeable.
5. Which O-ring comes with the fitting? Each code is supplied with the ring listed in the table, for example O908 for a 3/4″-16 thread end. Tell us your fluid type and temperature and we will confirm the seal compound is compatible.
6. What pressure is this fitting rated for? Working pressure is set by the SAE J1926 port standard together with your hose grade; the finished assembly is 100% pressure tested and the torque and crimp data sheet accompanies your order.
7. Can I get the fittings laser-marked with our own part number? Yes. OEM marking, custom plating and packaging are standard services; send the artwork and we will confirm within 24 hours.
