Reducer Tube Adaptor with Swivel Nut 2C/2D (Metric Tube to Metric Tube, DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1)

Reducer tube adaptor with swivel nut hydraulic adapter 2C/2D specification and dimension chart

Why This Reducer Tube Adaptor with Swivel Nut 2C/2D Passes the Compliance Gate

The reducer tube adaptor with swivel nut 2C/2D is a straight steel adaptor that joins two different metric tube sizes in the DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 system. One end carries a swivel nut for the larger tube, the other end carries the male thread for the smaller tube nut, so a line can step down in bore without a stack of fittings.

  • Swivel nut end: metric female swivel nut that turns freely on the body, for tube from 8 mm to 42 mm outside diameter.
  • Male stud end: metric male thread from M12X1.5 to M45X2, for tube from 6 mm to 35 mm outside diameter.
  • Pressure groups from the drawing: 31.5 MPa and 16 MPa (light series L). Heavy series S rows of the 2D counterpart are not shown on the supplied drawing extract and are marked for confirmation below.

Principais vantagens

  1. A reducer that also swivels: the reducer tube adaptor with swivel nut 2C/2D lets the nut be turned while the body stays still, which is what a tube run needs when the pipe cannot be rotated on site.
  2. One part instead of two: a step-down from a large tube to a smaller tube is done in a single adaptor, removing one threaded joint and one potential weep point.
  3. A wide reduction ladder: 45 catalogue rows cover every combination from a 6 mm tube up to a 42 mm tube on the swivel nut side.
  4. Both ends in the same system: the male stud end follows DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 metric tube practice, light series L, so no hybrid end is needed on the small side.
  5. Dimensional data per row: l1, L1 and the three hexes S1, S2 and S3 are listed for every row, so nut engagement and spanner clearance can be checked before ordering.
  6. Batch traceability: mill test reports, dimensional inspection reports and pressure test records are available per production batch on request.

Especificações Técnicas

What Is a Reducer Tube Adaptor with Swivel Nut?

It is a one-piece machined steel adaptor with a metric male stud thread at one end and a metric female swivel nut at the other. The swivel nut is retained on the body and turns independently, so the tube joint can be made up without rotating the adaptor or the tube run behind it.

This is a reducer, not an equal tube adaptor: every row on this drawing joins two different tube sizes. It is also not a port adaptor and not a weld fitting. A JIC 74 degree cone end, a BSP end and a JIS 60 degree cone end are different systems and are not interchangeable with either end of this adaptor.

Connection 1: Metric Male Stud End (E)

Attribute Detalhe
End type Metric male thread for a tube nut, straight
Thread range M12X1.5 to M45X2
Tube outside diameter 6 mm to 35 mm (D1)
System reference Metric tube connection practice in the DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 family, light series L
Hex across flats S2, per row
Not interchangeable with JIC 74 degree cone ends, BSP or BSPT ends, JIS 60 degree cone ends

Connection 2: Metric Female Swivel Nut (F)

Attribute Detalhe
End type Metric female swivel nut, rotating, held on the adaptor body
Thread range M14X1.5 to M52X2
Tube outside diameter 8 mm to 42 mm (D2)
System reference Metric tube connection practice in the DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 family, light series L
Hex across flats S1 on the body and S3 on the nut, per row
Not interchangeable with JIC 74 degree cone swivel nuts, BSP swivel nuts, JIS 60 degree cone nuts

The two connections are always different sizes in this matrix, which is the whole purpose of the reducer rows.

Working Pressure and Operating Envelope

Working pressure is set by the pressure group of the row selected, together with the tube system and the hose assembly the adaptor joins. A reducer row is limited by its smaller end.

Group from Drawing Série Typical Application Envelope
31.5 MPa Light series L Reducer rows, small end D1 6-18 mm
16 MPa Light series L Reducer rows with large swivel nut, D2 28-42 mm

The finished assembly is only as strong as its weakest member, so the tube, nut, ferrule or cone and hose on both sides must be rated at or above the row’s group. (1 MPa is approximately 145 psi.)

Temperature Range

Condition Range Notes
Serviço típico -40 °C to +120 °C Governed by the tube system, the sealing elements and the hose selected
Tube system Cutting ring or cone per the tube system in use Typical
Low temperature Below -40 °C Confirm tube system and hose compatibility before order
High temperature Above +120 °C Confirm tube system and hose compatibility before order

How to Read the Part Number Matrix

The code reads: series prefix, small tube thread code, large tube thread code, and an optional RN suffix. Prefix gives the series, the first block is the male stud end, and the second block is the swivel nut end.

  • Prefix 2C = light series; the 2D heavy series counterpart follows the same block pattern.
  • First block: metric thread of the male stud end (12 = M12X1.5).
  • Second block: metric thread of the swivel nut (14 = M14X1.5, 52 = M52X2).
  • Suffix RN = supplied as a complete set with cutting ring and nut for the tube end.

Example 1: 2C-12-14 = light series, M12X1.5 male stud end for 6 mm tube, M14X1.5 swivel nut for 8 mm tube, overall length 38 mm, hexes 12, 14 and 17, 31.5 MPa group.

Example 2: 2C-16-30 = light series, M16X1.5 male stud end for 10 mm tube, M30X2 swivel nut for 22 mm tube, overall length 48 mm, hexes 27, 19 and 36, 31.5 MPa group. The swivel nut allows the large tube joint to be made up without rotating the line.

Example 3: 2C-45-52 = light series, M45X2 male stud end for 35 mm tube, M52X2 swivel nut for 42 mm tube, overall length 65 mm, 16 MPa group.

Selection and Ordering

Ordering the reducer tube adaptor with swivel nut 2C/2D is a four-step check: measure the tube outside diameter on each side of the joint, confirm both metric threads, decide whether the swivel nut is needed for access, then compare the pressure group.

Selection Checklist and Decision Table

Question Answer Consequence
What are the two tube outside diameters? Match D1 and D2 Both blocks of the part number must be correct
Which end is the large tube? The swivel nut end (F) A reversed part number will not fit the run
Is the swivel nut needed? Yes where the tube cannot be rotated The nut turns on the body while the line stays still
Are the hexes clear enough for a spanner? Compare S1, S2 and S3 A large S3 nut in a tight corner cannot be reached
What is the system working pressure? Compare with the group The smaller end sets the limit of a reducer row
Is a heavy series 2D row required? Confirm from the drawing 2D dimensional data is quoted on request rather than assumed

Cross Reference Service

Send a photo or a dimension sketch of the adaptor being replaced, or the tube sizes at both ends. We measure both threads, the three hexes and the overall length, then map the part to a 2C row free of charge. We do not copy or re-badge another manufacturer’s part number.

Packaging and Logistics

Item Standard Practice
Unit protection Individually bagged with both threads protected

Installation and Fitment Guide

Step-by-Step Assembly

  1. Check the part number against the two tube sizes on the bench before assembly starts, and confirm which end is the large tube.
  2. Clean both threads and check that the swivel nut turns freely on the body and is not cross-threaded.
  3. Fit the tube nut with its cutting ring or cone to the male stud end and tighten to the tube system torque table, holding the adaptor by its body hex S1.
  4. Position the large tube and make up the swivel nut joint by hand until it seats, turning only the nut.
  5. Torque the swivel nut to the value for that thread size, keeping the body from rotating so the first joint is not disturbed.
  6. Pressure test the line and check both joints for weeping before the machine returns to service.

Torque and Sealing Notes

  • Use the torque table for the exact thread size, material class and finish involved, taken from the applicable standard data sheet or the drawing supplied with the order.
  • The swivel nut turns on the body but does not seal on it. Sealing is done by the tube system’s own ring or cone at each end.
  • Hold the body at S1 while tightening the small end, and hold the body again while tightening the swivel nut, so neither joint is opened by the other.
  • Do not use the swivel nut hex to tighten the male stud end, and do not use the stud hex to tighten the swivel nut.
  • If a joint weeps after correct torque, check tube squareness, ring condition and nut seating before adding more torque.

Installation Warnings

  • Do not use this adaptor as an equal tube connector; every row joins two different tube sizes.
  • Do not interchange light series and heavy series parts, even where a thread appears to start.
  • Do not substitute a 74 degree cone end, a 60 degree seat end or an O-ring boss stud end for either end.
  • Do not force a swivel nut that will not turn by hand; a cross-threaded nut ruins the thread on the body.
  • Do not exceed the pressure group of the selected row, and remember that a reducer row is limited by its smaller end.
  • Do not use a 2C row in place of a 2D heavy series row without confirming the pressure group.

Applications and Industries

Bore changes in a tube run: the most common use is a line that must step down at a manifold or valve block without adding a second joint.

Tight installations: where a tube cannot be rotated on site, the swivel nut allows the joint to be made up in place.

Cross-standard equipment integration: machinery built to metric tube practice where a large tube line feeds a smaller branch circuit.

Repair and replacement: both tube sizes are measurable at the joint, so an unmarked reducer can usually be mapped to a row from dimensions alone.

High-pressure test benches: 31.5 MPa rows suit rigs that need an accurate reduction in a small space.

Industrial plant: presses, power units and machine tools where tube sizes change between a main run and a service branch.

Industry tags: hydraulic adapter, reducer adaptor, swivel nut adaptor, metric tube, DIN 2353, ISO 8434-1, tube reducer, hydraulic fitting.

OEM Customization and Quality Traceability

We manufacture hydraulic adapters and hose assemblies and support OEM programs with private labelling and laser marking of your own part number on the hex or shank. Custom reduction combinations, special lengths, alternative materials and RN set options are quoted from your drawing or sample, usually within 24 hours.

Every production batch is traceable. Parts pass a 100 percent pressure test before packing, and mill test reports, dimensional inspection reports and pressure test records are available with the shipment on request. Third-party inspection such as BV or SGS can be arranged. Our manufacturing system is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 18752.

FAQ

Q: What is a reducer tube adaptor with swivel nut 2C/2D used for?

A: It joins two different metric tube sizes in one part, with a swivel nut on the large tube end so the joint can be made up without rotating the tube. It removes one joint from a step-down in a tube run.

Q: How do I know which end is which on the part number?

A: The first number block is the male stud end for the smaller tube and the second block is the swivel nut for the larger tube. For example 2C-16-30 is an M16X1.5 stud end for 10 mm tube with an M30X2 swivel nut for 22 mm tube.

Q: Are the two ends ever the same size?

A: No. Every row in this matrix is a reducer. If an equal tube joint is needed, a straight tube adaptor is the correct part.

Q: What pressure can this adaptor take?

A: The pressure group of the row governs the limit: 31.5 MPa for rows up to a 22 mm large end and 16 MPa for rows with a 28 mm to 42 mm swivel nut. A reducer row is limited by its smaller end.

Q: Why is the swivel nut useful?

A: The nut turns on the adaptor body, so a large tube line can be connected where the tube itself cannot be rotated on site. It is also useful in tight installations where the tube route is fixed.

Q: Do you supply the cutting ring and nut as well?

A: Yes. The RN version is supplied as a complete set with cutting ring and nut, and both parts can be quoted with the adaptor.

Q: Can I get heavy series 2D rows?

A: Yes, on request. The drawing extract supplied here lists the 2C light series rows in full; 2D heavy series dimensions and pressure groups are quoted from our drawing rather than assumed.

Q: What are your lead times?

A: Standard rows typically ship as a 7-day batch, custom sampling is available in about 48 hours for new drawings, and urgent quantities can move by air freight.
