It then covers testing, inspection and the safety boundary that tells you when a hose must be withdrawn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-counts-as-an-industrial-steam-hose\">What Counts as an Industrial Steam Hose?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A steam hose is a flexible rubber hose engineered to carry saturated steam under pressure without collapsing, blistering or delaminating. Type 1 is rated to 6 bar at 164 \u00b0C with textile reinforcement. Type 2 is rated to 18 bar at 210 \u00b0C with steel wire reinforcement. The standard also sets cover classes and electrical suffixes, and it requires end connections that let you adjust clamp force. Quick-release couplings are prohibited for that reason, because a coupling that cannot be tightened cannot be made safe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most steam hose safety problems trace back to a specification that ignored one of those three features. The same 3\/4 inch bore bends to 80 mm in that grade, but the 170 \u00b0C version of the same bore needs roughly 70 mm. Read every bend radius with its grade attached, because the compound and the reinforcement differ between the two.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flow follows the square of the bore, so a small step up in diameter buys a large step up in capacity. That is why a 1 inch bore moves far more steam than a 3\/4 inch bore at the same pressure. A cleaning hose is dragged and coiled all day. A press hose sits still for hours at temperature.
